1. What is Vibe?

Vibe is an app for sharing thoughts and pictures with the "crowd" around you (which can be the people within a few feet to people around the world). Posting is easy and anonymous by default so say whatever is on your mind wherever you are!

Use Vibe at work (meetings and conferences), at school (lectures and campus life), at games and movies, and for fun (clubs and parties).

Vibe is easy and quick to use (no registration or login). It consists of two screens:

add a vibe
view nearby vibes

It's a great way to share thoughts with people near you (and far if you want). Vibes are anonymous so you can be completely honest (but please be considerate) and can be set to expire within 15 minutes to 30 days - so they are about the "here and the now."

2. What are whispers, speaks, shouts, whistles, yells, and bellows?

That's "Vibe speak" for different distances you can have your vibe visible from. Here's the distance of each:

How far:
• Whisper: 160 feet (50 meters)
• Speak: 1,600 feet (500 meters)
• Shout: 3 miles (50 kilometers)
• Whistle: 31 miles (50 kilometers)
• Yell: 311 miles (500 kilometers)
• Bellow: Worldwide (use sparingly)

How long:
• 15 minutes
• 1 hour
• 1 day
• 14 days
• 30 days
• Forever

3. Vibe is private and anonymous

Vibe does not use or transmit your iPhone/iPad ID number (UDID). You don't need to provide an email address, register, login, or have a password to use Vibe. It only needs your approximate device location.

4. Browsing vibes:

You'll find a list of viewable posts under the "Vibes" tab. Use the slider at the top to filter vibes by distance from you.

When viewing posts, the original poster's messages are always on the left side of the screen and the replies to it are on the right. Green bubbles refer to your side of the conversation and white bubbles are other people's.

5. Posting a vibe:

Posting is quick and easy and does not require registration or login. To post a new vibe, tap on the "New Vibe" button in the Vibes screen.

  1. Tap on the "New Vibe" button in the Vibes screen.

  2. Select "how loud" you want to broadcast your post and also "how long" you want it around before being expired

  3. You can add a picture to your post (from either your photo library or your camera).

  4. Double check your selections then tap on [Submit] and you are done. Your post will appear momentarily at the bottom of the Vibes list.

 6. Replying to posts:

You reply to a post by tapping the button in the header of the vibe. If the reply button is dimmed, it means you are outside the allowable reply radius for that vibe (the original poster has allowed people in your location to see it but has limited the replies to people closer to the pin location of the post).

7. Posting etiquette on Vibe
Vibe is both a communication medium and also a community of people around the world. We ask that you follow these guidelines when on Vibe:

  1. Be civil and don't post something you wouldn't say in person to another person.

  2. No profanity, no solicitations for pornography, or any illegal activity.

  3. Keep the visibility distance of your post appropriate for the topic. For example if you are posting to announce a neighborhood party, no need to make it visible to the rest of the world.

  4. Misuse of the service will lead to deletion of posts and eventual banning of the offending device from Vibe, i.e. you would no longer be able to post from your iPhone or iPad.
